Thermally fused laminate (TFL) is created by soaking decor paper with resin and allowing it to partially dry. The partially cured sheet is then stuck to a rigid backing material core. The backing is usually made from particle board or medium density fiberboard and it's sometimes referred to as the “substrate”.
